Dear family,

Wow there is no time today really! AAAAHH. Today we were invited to the Kissi's house to eat some ground nut soup and omo-tuo (balls of rice). They wanted to feed us for helping clean out their house when it flooded. So we were there for a long time and just got to the cafe because they were running late.

So anywho some cool short stories.

1. We have been teaching this guy K who is awesome. He is in his 60's and has been attending church for months. Elder Farnbach was teaching him. He loves the church and knows that it is true, however he has a drinking problem so he can't be baptized yet. We were praying to know what to do and we decided to call him everyday at 6pm to follow up on him to see if he has not drank. For the past 2 weeks he has been clean. We also had him talk to the bishop.

THEN I felt impressed to call Dr. Kissi to come with us. I asked him to talk about the physical dangers of drinking. When Dr. Kissi was there it was a great lesson. He explained in a very simple way how alcohol effects the brain and K loved it. Dr. Kissi followed up with his testimony and it was great. K said that just the day before one of his friends died at Dr. Kissi's hospital. Turns out it was because of a liver failure due to drinking. Also K's neighbor died a couple years ago also due to an alcohol related accident. It was crazy and Dr. Kissi was a great help. We plan to baptize K on the 30th of April if he continues to be clean and proves that he has stopped drinking. You can pray for him.

2. We also got a couple of cool new investigators. One is a woman who's father is a member. Her name is M. Her brother is a member in the Mataheko ward I went to all all time. Small world! Anywho, she had been investigating the church in Ivory Coast but she didn't join yet. When she moved here her uncle started up a church so she goes there along with the rest of the family except the Father and the brother. We met her at her fathers house and she let us come over to her own place and teach her. Turns out that her 19 year old daughter had investigated before as well. Well she accepted a baptismal date and seems very positive about it. We hope to teach her husband to when he returns from Kumasi.

3. We got brother Mills to visit Bro S this week. I found out more of the concerns with Bro S. Man getting a member there really helps us know the full picture. Anywho he was preparing to come but it rained. Man this area is hard when there is rain. If it rains small then places flood. No good drainage and the roads and stuff become almost impossible. The whole zone's sacrament attendance was down. It wasn't unbearable but if you are looking for an excuse then that would be it. Somebody gave a talk during church about the rain and the last days and second coming. He read a scripture about there being earthquakes and thunderings and it being a 'great and dreadful day.' He then said how are we supposed to go meet Christ at the last day when all of this stuff is happening and we don't even have enough faith to go to church on Sunday when it is raining. It was a good message and it made me kinda laugh.

Well anywho the zone did a good job. We have baptized 14 people this month as a zone. We have a goal of 33 this month. We are looking pretty good so far. It is so awesome to see all of these people especially the families that are coming into the church. Buduburum just baptized a family of 6! I called them and congratulated them. They were really happy as is the family. Nothing is sweeter.

We should baptize Ebeneezer this Saturday. It'll be very cool. He has been coming to church with his friend Issac. Isaac was baptized by Elder Gibson almost 2 years ago. We are trying to get Isaac ordained to be an elder. There is a great Spirit around when a friend brings another friend into the gospel. When we find people by ourselves it is very good; however the better way is when the members bring their friends into it. Both are necessary but the members bringing friends into it is 'the better way' as Gordon B. Hinckley says.

Tomorrow we are going to the temple. Man I'm so glad that I get to go to the temple on my mission. Not everyone gets to go on their missions. It really is the only quiet place in Accra. It is a beautiful feeling when you are there and the Spirit is just amazing. I read the dedicatory prayer of the Accra temple that mom sent and I can see what was stated in the prayer coming to pass. It is a very important place in Africa. A lot of good happens in that sacred place. It'll be great to go there and to kinda recharge and get a little jump start into these next couple of months.

Well Elder Dakouri's country, Ivory Coast, is in a big mess right now, however they just arrested their old president today so the war should die down pretty soon. I hope he can go home to a peaceful place. War really is a terrible thing. I'm glad that everything is settling down so that when he arrives home everything should be better. Keep praying for that country. The people of Ghana will never have a fight, they are a peaceful happy people. Kinda like Canadians. Just kinda minding their own business and stuff, however they did separate and declare liberty from England. So it is like Canada, a little - haha. I love these people here they will be a good example for the rest of war stricken Africa on how to behave. I believe as the gospel spreads that the continent will become more peaceful.

Anywho glad you are doing good mom. Don't get paint in your eye or fall down on the ladder. Man I sleep just about anywhere like you, however I hate if the light is on! MAN turn it off!

I heard conference was good, we should watch it in a month or two. We don't get to watch all of it so usually we steal the DVD's or go to the bishops house and watch them on a p-day or something. That's right we really live it up on p-day. Wash or clothes, clean email our families and then have a riot watching the extra 2 session of general conference. We are pretty hard core huh?

Well I gotta run to a family home evening. We are going to try to get this girl N to get progressing. We are going to teach the family about the temple and then have everyone draw and design their own temple. If we were home I would do this with marshmallows and graham crackers but paper will do for here haha. The criteria is that it has to say, "HOLINESS TO THE LORD, THE HOUSE OF THE LORD" on it somewhere and it has to have an Angel Moroni somewhere. It'll be fun to see what everyone comes up with.

I love you all. We are striving to get as many of our brothers and sisters down this path and towards our Heavenly Father. I love this gospel and know that it is true. I hope that we can love the S family back into this gospel. We are trying all we can; hopefully he will choose to follow it so he can be happy. He knows that he can be happy but just it is hard to come back. We will do all we can for him and his kids. Being on a mission you learn to love the people so much. Man the church is true, this is the true church that Jesus Christ Himself built when He was on this earth. It has been restored by the prophet Joseph Smith, regardless of all the rumors and lies and poking fun that will be said about Joseph Smith; he really did see what he said he saw and brought forth the book of mormon. It is evidence that this is all true, the Holy Ghost bears witness of it. Thank goodness for Africa, everyone here loves God so much. All we need to do is add to the truths that they already know. This place rocks.

Tell dad he will do great in his calling and not to worry. Whom God calls He qualifies. Sometimes you are thrown (hurled) into the fire for our own good and purification. It's like a good swift kick to get us molded into what God wants us to be.
